;)

Happy Giftmas.

Merry Christmas.

etcetcetc

So I woke up this morning thinking this:

Does anyone else say "Merry Christmas!" outloud to people w/the Frosty the Snowman "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" tone in their head? Cause I do.

Was that magic old hat a metaphor for god? You know Frosty died and rose from the wet... and I don't even want to think about what the corn cob pipe represented.  Although.... I'm all good w/the wet.

I emailed BB w/this thought and she thinks I have finally flipped the switch on life.

I posted it to my FB and a verrrrrrrrrrrry  OLD OLD [[we are old]]  long time friend since grammar school is concerned about my sanity. Even said I was the "nutter on the bus".   But she is Irish...  I mean like from Ireland, Irish.  So she is sensitive about these things, unlike American Irish. Plus she IS half Brit and you know how they are. *eye roll*

I explained that I think  that magic old hat was a metaphor for god AND that Professor Hinkle, the Magician is the think nasty, think nasty, think nasty the devil.

Santa Clause is just the Metatron.

If you didn't go to YEARS AND YEARS of Parochial School or see the movie Dogma you might not know what the Metratron is [[[basically the voice of god... cause if we heard gods voice we would explode]]]

All I know is true is this:
Jezuzz H. Christs Bday Party gets me away, to Boston, MA for a few days to get laid.

**in my BEST frosty impression**
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

The Who is (are?) playing the Super Bowl halftime show this year.

The last five years prior to this (i.e., since the infamous 'wardrobe malfunction') were Springsteen, Petty, Prince, the Rolling Stones, and Paul McCartney. The fifteen years prior to the malfunction were all about fifty-fifty men and women. Women such as Diana Ross, Martha Reeves, Shania Twain, Gwen Stefani (No Doubt), Gloria Estefan . . . (Before that it was mostly men, but we're getting before 1990 and there were more college marching bands playing, some members of which were undoubtedly female. But we still had women like Ella Fitzgerald and Carol Channing performing.)

I understand that there was some allowable backlash to the viewing of Janet Jackson's boob on television, but this is bordering on, like, a pattern. And not just a pattern, but a pattern of old, formerly-attractive (ok, not Tom Petty) (and not Mick Jagger) (on the rest, YMMV), overwhelmingly white (yes, Prince excepted) men.

Where are the women? I mean, it's not like women have stopped making music. Pink, Shakira, Alicia Keys, and Beyonce are all established artists (like, 5 years +) who have hits on the pop chart right now. Also Kelly Clarkson. (I checked.) And I haven't even hit the country charts, or looked back at the past fifty years to see if anyone else worthy isn't dead.

*sigh*

Hey, Super Bowl people? Women watch the Big Game, too. And I'm sure there are more than a few people out there who would like to see women perform sometimes, too.

Yay, (new) gay band videos!

If you squint, you can kind of see me. I'm sitting 4th chair flute, and 1st chair is the woman in shiny clothes sitting next to the blonde oboe player. I'm mostly either out of the screen or blocked by the conductor's ass, though. :)

Also, I am confused that there are still people who play concert snare traditional grip. But hey, whatever works, and he's a lot better than I am.

So you should come to our next concert. It's in February!

OK, so I was watching "Glee" on Hulu this afternoon, and at the beginning I got to pick "For Him" or "For Her," and I thought, enough with the goddamn gender essentialism already!

I got all ready to make a nasty post about it, but then I saw that Bitch Ph.D did it already and in fewer words than I undoubtedly would have used.

In more important news, my first two exams have gone very well indeed, although I reserve the right to change my tune after I get my grades a month or so from now. Only two more, and they're both 'short' ones -- only 3 hours, not 4. And no more multiple choice!

Con Law on Friday. I'm reasonably prepared for that one (and it's open-book), hence the Hulu-watching this afternoon.

Hope everyone had a good Wednesday!
